Tera Wall Concept

This modular lighting concept utilizes 3M™ Light Mixing Air Guide technology and is based on a range of triangular shapes that can be used to create big and spectacular lighting installations. Each triangle can be treated as a pixel by the control unit providing many lighting effects can be created and programmed.

Light Path Concept

Modular lighting system.
Technology: Air Guide
Features:
•the modules (in whichever combination) can be suspended or wall mounted; when the light is off the modules are evenly white;
•each module is powered through the adjacent modules, and doesn’t need wiring;
•blank modules provide electronic interfaces and transformers (for controllers and energy supply); the blank modules can provide indirect lighting, thanks to an LED array placed on the back side;
•the high end versions of the system feature LEDs with sunlight quality and a controller that automatically varies the light temperature according to the cycle of sun (from dawn to sunset).

Airport Story

At a major airline hub in Brazil, where a new terminal building joins the old one, a pedestrian link between the two terminals runs underground beneath several runways. The architect decides to take advantage of the country’s abundant sunshine and light the vast underground area with a sunlight conduction system to achieve three goals:
 
  • energy savings, in terms of lighting
  • energy savings, in terms of temperature control (the underground environment is isolated from external weather conditions)
  • visual comfort for pedestrians (sunlight, even underground)

In order to avoid interference with surface traffic, the architect chooses the 3M Sunlight Delivery System. Its exterior light collectors can be placed 20 meters from each other, while interior sunlight diffusers can be placed at five-meter intervals, providing a series of light sources along the entire length of the tunnel.
